Meet our Senior Management Team

Cheryl Webb, Executive Director

Start Date: October 1998

Cheryl joined the Adventure Place team in 1998 as the Manager of Early Intervention Services. Prior to that, she spent 15 years in the child care, education and social service sectors. Cheryl has both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work, from Ryerson University and the University of Toronto, respectively. Cheryl worked in Banff, Alberta for several years, where she began her career in working with children and families, and acquired her enthusiasm for the great outdoors. She enjoys sports, movies and philosophical discussions with friends, and is the owner of two high-spirited Miniature Schnauzers.

Paul Bessin, Program Director

Start Date: May 2012

Paul Bessin has over 20 years’ experience supporting youth and children with emotional/behavioural and developmental needs and their caregivers. He started his career working in residential treatment programs and after completing his Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Toronto he worked as a family, individual and group therapist in Brampton and in Scarborough before progressing to supervisor and manager of clinical and case management services and the community parenting programs at an accredited children’s mental health agency in Toronto East. In 2008 he was very grateful to have been encouraged to participate in the Emerging Leaders certificate program offered at Schulich through the generous support of the Metcalf Foundation and United Way.

Paul is Clinical Director for Toronto Autism Services at Adventure Place. He enjoys staying active through cycling and running and when weather doesn’t permit being active outdoors –cooking and eating.

Esther Caplan, Program Director

Start Date: March 1989

Esther Caplan has over 30 years experience supporting children with special needs and their families. Her career began at the Child Development Institute. She then went on to work for Family Daycare Services while pursuing her Master’s Degree in Education.

Esther has been with Adventure Place since 1989, initially as a Teacher Therapist in the Day Treatment Program, then as an Early Childhood Specialist in the Early Intervention Program. She later assumed the role of Early Childhood Specialist Supervisor and served in that capacity for over 10 years.

In March 2010, Esther was promoted to Program Director. She now provides leadership to the Willowdale EarlyON Child and Family Centre, Better Beginnings Now, Every Child Belongs and Early Abilities Speech and Language program.

Genevieve Martins, Clinical Director

Start Date: April 2018

Genevieve is the Clinical Director for the Mental Health team at Adventure Place.  Genevieve has had the privilege of working in the children’s mental health sector alongside families and providers for over 20 years. She has predominantly worked in the Intensive Services (Residential, Day Treatment and Outreach programs) area across Peel and York Regions.  Her career has focused on facilitating individual, family, and group therapy as well providing leadership to transdisciplinary teams serving children (ages 0-18) and their caregivers.  Genevieve loves cooking, shopping, traveling, and great restaurants but nothing is more cherished than her husband and 3 sons.

Debbie Modrovsky, Business Director

Start Date: November 2000

Debbie has worked for Adventure Place since 2000. As Business Director, Debbie is responsible for all Financial and Human Resource functions in the agency. Debbie brought 13 years of financial, HR and data management experience to this position from both non-profit and corporate sectors. Debbie lives in Newmarket with her husband and daughter. She enjoys cooking, swimming, travelling and spending time with her family and pets in her spare time.
