Kyle Anand, Director

Start Date: April 2017

Kyle was born in North York and raised in Etobicoke. He graduated from Western University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Management & Organizational Studies specializing in Accounting and Finance. He further completed his CMA & CPA designations in 2014. He has over 9 years of leadership and managerial experience in Accounting, Finance and Procurement, specializing in the public and non-profit sector. He started his career at the law firm McMillan LLP as an accountant back in 2008 and then went on to further his career at Salvation Army in 2011 as a Senior Accountant. He then went on to join The University Health Network (the organization managing Toronto’s top hospitals) holding a variety of leadership and managerial roles in Finance and Procurement. Kyle has also had extensive board experience for a number of non-profit organizations, including The Etobicoke Historical Society and West Toronto Community Legal Services, overseeing financial budgets and statements as Board Treasurer, while providing key financial strategy for the organizations. In his spare time, Kyle enjoys travelling and is an avid sports fan. Kyle joined Adventure Place through BoardMatch.

Shilpa Barccha, Director

Start Date: June 2018

Shilpa grew up in North York, and after several years studying and living in the US and overseas, now lives here again with her husband and daughter. She has a B.Sc from the University of Waterloo and an MBA from Duke University. She is an accomplished executive and entrepreneur with diverse management experience. She has led teams overseeing business development, strategy, marketing & communications, as well as ecommerce and digital marketing. Shilpa cares deeply about the health and well-being of young children and young families, and joined Adventure Place through BoardMatch.

Liliane Bedrossian, Secretary (Executive Committee)

Start Date: April 2017

Liliane was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. She is a CPA, CA and holds a Master’s in Business Administration from both Queen’s University and Cornell University. As a finance executive she brings over 16 years of diverse experience in accounting, financial and operational management, mergers and acquisitions, internal control, strategy and transformational change. She has worked for leading large global publicly traded organizations in various industries including the loyalty management, data analytics, technology, service and consumer packaged goods space. Liliane has also been featured in various campaigns by the CPA Institute to promote the profession to the youth. In her spare time, Liliane enjoys traveling, volunteering, spending time with her family, her husband and 5 year old daughter.

Nora Constas, Director

Start Date: February 2014

Born in Beirut, Lebanon, Nora moved to Canada at a young age. She completed her undergraduate degree in Nursing from the University of Calgary and subsequently obtaining her Masters in Nursing and Nurse Practitioner from Athabasca University. After several years at SickKids as an Emergency department nurse Nora worked as a NP with children with complex needs in an acute care as well as ambulatory and community setting. After a number of years, Nora obtained her MBA from the Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto which led to a change in career. In 2012, Nora joined Marsh Canada as the National Industry leader in clinical risk management and consulting, providing advice and risk solutions to health care facilities across the country. Nora joined Adventure Place through Board Match.

Karyn Drewnowsky, Director

Start Date: April 2017

Karyn graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy in 1979. Since that time she has worked in almost every sector of the health care system. With respect to children, she has provided care in the schools under the auspices of the Community Care Access Centres (CCAC) as well as at the, now defunct, Metropolitan Toronto School Board. She was also engaged in a research project at Bloorview Children’s Hospital (now Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital). She currently works as a Case Manager/Life Care Planner in the personal injury sector. As a mother and grandmother, Karyn recognizes the need to promote healthy child development and to support families and caregivers. Other volunteer interests include St. John’s Ambulance therapy dog visits with her Sheltie, Charlie. Passions include travel and reading.

Carlos Gonzales, Director

Start Date: July 2012

Carlos was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, migrated to Canada at the age of 11 years old and attended an elementary and secondary school in the Toronto area. He is a Ryerson University graduate where he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Business Information Systems and Business Communication. The Altruvest’s BoardMatch program introduced Carlos to Adventure Place in 2012. With over 15 years’ experience in Canada’s telecom industry, Carlos has held several senior leadership roles at two of Canada’s largest Telecommunications companies. He has led teams within Customer Operations, IT, Self-Serve and Marketing. He moved to Vaughan, Ontario in 2001 where he lives today with his wife Maria and their two lovely daughters, Isabella and Elena.

Laura Hearn, Vice President (Executive Committee)

Start Date: June 2015

Laura Hearn is Vice President, Corporate Partnerships, Marketing & Events for True Patriot Love Foundation – a national charity which provides critical support and resources to military and Veteran families in need. In this role she oversees all signature events, including True Patriot Love’s Tribute Gala and global expedition series. She also supports all aspects of marketing, communications and public relations and is responsible for key corporate sponsorships and relationships. Prior to this role Laura held a variety of progressive positions at top tier advertising agencies, as well as one of Canada’s largest telecommunications providers. She has particular expertise in the areas of integrated brand building, loyalty and retention marketing, corporate philanthropy and cause marketing. Laura has two young children, Emily & Spencer, and is very active within their school community. Laura holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Honours) from Queen’s University School of Business.

Renzo Isabella, President (Executive Committee)

Start Date: March 2012

Renzo Isabella was born and raised in Toronto. He graduated with a BBA degree from the Schulich School of Business, York University, and a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School. Renzo worked in the Tax Policy Branch of the Canadian Department of Finance, where he was extensively involved in formulating tax policy and drafting legislation, as well as a number of special projects within the Department of Finance. In 2011 he joined the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, before opening his law office providing services in the real estate, corporate/commercial, and tax dispute resolution areas. Renzo was introduced to Adventure Place through Altruvest’s BoardMatch program.

Sharone Karagach, Director

Start Date: June 2018

Sharone is a finance and accounting professional working in the Greater Toronto Area. He is currently the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis at Pfaff Automotive Partners, Canada’s premier retailer of luxury and exotic vehicles. An engineer by training, Sharone spent nearly a decade in the aerospace industry prior to entering the finance field. Sharone is a CPA CMA and holds a B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University and an M.Sc in Financial Economics from the University of London. He has previously volunteered with Habitat For Humanity, Queen’s University, and Greenpeace.

Herman Ng, Director

Start Date: March 2012

Herman grew up near the McNicoll Public School location of Adventure Place and was actively involved with the City’s aquatics program for over 10 years. He is currently Director, Workforce Management and Capacity Planning at Enercare. Prior to joining Enercare, Herman had various director roles at Bell and OLG in corporate strategic initiatives, advanced analytics, program design & delivery, as well as change management. Herman is a mentor of UofT’s Alumni Mentorship Program and PEO’s Licensure Assistance Program. A Professional Engineer, Herman holds a BASc in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto, an MEng from Simon Fraser University, and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management. He lives in North York and has two young boys.

Phil Willis, Treasurer (Executive Committee)

Start Date: May 1989

Phil was born and raised in Victoria, B.C. He graduated Engineering at UBC where he was in Varsity Rugby. Phil is retired. He worked for IBM Canada for 30 years in engineering, marketing, and management positions in Canada and Australia (National Sales Manager). Phil moved to Kinnock Associates where he spent the next six years in contract management (President CERTICOM, President Connect.IT). Phil married his high school sweetheart, Nancy. They have 4 boys. Phil has coached boys hockey, soccer, and served on the Group Committee, Boy Scouts. Phil’s hobbies include golf, travel, and reading.
