Kyle Anand, Director

Kyle was born in North York and raised in Etobicoke. He graduated from Western University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Management & Organizational Studies specializing in Accounting and Finance. He further completed his CMA & CPA designations in 2014. He has over 9 years of leadership and managerial experience in Accounting, Finance and Procurement, specializing in the public and non-profit sector. He started his career at the law firm McMillan LLP as an accountant back in 2008 and then went on to further his career at Salvation Army in 2011 as a Senior Accountant. He then went on to join The University Health Network (the organization managing Toronto’s top hospitals) holding a variety of leadership and managerial roles in Finance and Procurement. Kyle has also had extensive board experience for a number of non-profit organizations, including The Etobicoke Historical Society and West Toronto Community Legal Services, overseeing financial budgets and statements as Board Treasurer, while providing key financial strategy for the organizations. In his spare time, Kyle enjoys travelling and is an avid sports fan. Kyle joined Adventure Place through BoardMatch.
Philippa Armstrong, Director

Philippa is the WW L&D Program Manager for Lenovo Internal Audit. In her 20 years with IBM/Lenovo she has held a variety of roles including audit, risk management, operations, and finance. Born in England, she came to Canada as a young girl and spent her early years in B.C. before moving to Toronto. She is married, has three grown children, and a passion for the outdoors. Philippa has a BA in Liberal Arts.
Liliane Bedrossian, Director

Liliane was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. She is a CPA, CA and holds a Master’s in Business Administration from both Queen’s University and Cornell University. As a finance executive she brings over 16 years of diverse experience in accounting, financial and operational management, mergers and acquisitions, internal control, strategy and transformational change. She has worked for leading large global publicly traded organizations in various industries including the loyalty management, data analytics, technology, service and consumer packaged goods space. Liliane has also been featured in various campaigns by the CPA Institute to promote the profession to the youth. In her spare time, Liliane enjoys traveling, volunteering, spending time with her family, her husband and 5 year old daughter.
Nora Constas, Director

Born in Beirut, Lebanon, Nora moved to Canada at a young age. She completed her undergraduate degree in Nursing from the University of Calgary and subsequently obtaining her Masters in Nursing and Nurse Practitioner from Athabasca University. After several years at SickKids as an Emergency department nurse Nora worked as a NP with children with complex needs in an acute care as well as ambulatory and community setting. After a number of years, Nora obtained her MBA from the Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto which led to a change in career. In 2012, Nora joined Marsh Canada as the National Industry leader in clinical risk management and consulting, providing advice and risk solutions to health care facilities across the country. Nora joined Adventure Place through Board Match.
Rochelle Direnfeld, Director

Rochelle was born and raised in Toronto where she attended Bishop Strachan School. In 1985 she graduated with distinction from the University of Toronto with an Honours BA in English. She attended Osgoode Hall Law School graduating with a LLB in 1988 and was called to the Bar of the province of Ontario in 1990. Rochelle joined the Newmarket Crown Attorneys Office in 1990 as an Assistant Crown Attorney transferring to the Etobicoke Crown Attorney’s Office in 2001, where she has prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases. In 2017, Rochelle was appointed Deputy Director of Crown Operations for Toronto Region. Rochelle has written and lectured extensively on youth justice and is an editor of the Annotated Youth Criminal Justice Act Service. Rochelle is married to Howard Steiman, an orthodontist practicing in Ajax and they are the proud parents of three children Jeffrey, Sammy and Sydney. Jeffrey Steiman is a former student of Adventure Place’s Day Treatment Program.
Karyn Drewnowsky, Director

Karyn graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy in 1979. Since that time she has worked in almost every sector of the health care system. With respect to children, she has provided care in the schools under the auspices of the Community Care Access Centres (CCAC) as well as at the, now defunct, Metropolitan Toronto School Board. She was also engaged in a research project at Bloorview Children’s Hospital (now Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital). She currently works as a Case Manager/Life Care Planner in the personal injury sector. As a mother and grandmother, Karyn recognizes the need to promote healthy child development and to support families and caregivers. Other volunteer interests include St. John’s Ambulance therapy dog visits with her Sheltie, Charlie. Passions include travel and reading.
Carlos Gonzales, Director

Carlos was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, migrated to Canada at the age of 11 years old and attended an elementary and secondary school in the Toronto area. He is a Ryerson University graduate where he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Business Information Systems and Business Communication. The Altruvest’s BoardMatch program introduced Carlos to Adventure Place in 2012. With over 15 years’ experience in Canada’s telecom industry, Carlos has held several senior leadership roles at two of Canada’s largest Telecommunications companies. He has led teams within Customer Operations, IT, Self-Serve and Marketing. He moved to Vaughan, Ontario in 2001 where he lives today with his wife Maria and their two lovely daughters, Isabella and Elena.
Laura Hearn, Secretary (Executive Committee)

Laura Hearn was born and raised in Toronto. She attended Queen’s University where she received an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree. Laura has more than 14 years of comprehensive experience in marketing and advertising (in both for-profit and not-for-profit sectors), with particular expertise in the area of mass and digital advertising, loyalty and cause marketing. She currently works as Senior Director of Marketing & Communications for True Patriot Love Foundation, a national charity which funds programs and services that support military families in-need. In her spare time, Laura enjoys traveling, volunteering, entertaining family and friends, and is kept busy chasing after her two young children Emily and Spencer.
Renzo Isabella, President (Executive Committee)

Renzo Isabella was born and raised in Toronto. He graduated with a BBA degree from the Schulich School of Business, York University, and a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School. Renzo worked in the Tax Policy Branch of the Canadian Department of Finance, where he was extensively involved in formulating tax policy and drafting legislation, as well as a number of special projects within the Department of Finance. In 2011 he joined the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, before opening his law office providing services in the real estate, corporate/commercial, and tax dispute resolution areas. Renzo was introduced to Adventure Place through Altruvest’s BoardMatch program.
Todd Miller, Vice President (Executive Committee)

Todd Miller was born and raised in the Toronto suburb of Willowdale. He entered the music business after graduating High School, and hasn’t looked back. Retail sales, renting and setting up stage equipment at venues like Massey Hall, the Ontario Place Forum, Molson Amphitheatre, and performing on stages across Ontario provided the necessities of life while writing his own songs and recording them. In 2008, bored with traditional radio, he created RTDS, on online radio station that plays a diverse selection of music, 24/7, with hosted music shows in a variety of genres from the world over. In 2012, frustrated by traditional combative talk radio, he created Listen UP! Talk Radio, to provide a welcome oasis of learning, listening and respectful dialog. Todd is the executive producer and co-host of many of the shows. Todd’s hobbies include listening to music, hiking, golf and entertaining his young family. Todd’s son was in the Adventure Place day treatment program and Todd decided to give back to help Adventure Place grow and help more children. He currently sits on the Parent Advisory committee as Co-Chair, and on the Board of Directors as Vice President.
Herman Ng, Director

Herman grew up near the McNicoll Public School location of Adventure Place. He is Director, Value Creation at Bell responsible for major productivity initiatives and cross-company program management. He also worked at OLG, TELUS and Honeywell in the areas of strategy, business transformation and operations planning, as well as pre-sales during his postings in Vancouver and Toronto. A Professional Engineer of Ontario, Herman holds a BASc in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto, an MEng from Simon Fraser University, and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management. Herman also volunteers as a mentor for engineering students at the University of Toronto and serves as a board member with Scientists in School.
Phil Willis, Treasurer (Executive Committee)

Phil was born and raised in Victoria, B.C. He graduated Engineering at UBC where he was in Varsity Rugby. Phil is retired. He worked for IBM Canada for 30 years in engineering, marketing, and management positions in Canada and Australia (National Sales Manager). Phil moved to Kinnock Associates where he spent the next six years in contract management (President CERTICOM, President Connect.IT). Phil married his high school sweetheart, Nancy. They have 4 boys. Phil has coached boys hockey, soccer, and served on the Group Committee, Boy Scouts. Phil’s hobbies include golf, travel, and reading.
